Season of letting go

Here you can access an audio recording of the newsletter read by me, Katie!

It seems to be all about timing.
As a wonderful client of mine pointed out, "It's not that the tree lets go of the leaf, but the time comes when the leaf leaves the tree".
Neither cling to each other.

The feather is released by the body of the bird to make space for new growth appropriate for the season change.
The human adult observes their young leaving the nest.
In natural lore, there is no grieving process to go with this, it is simply facts. Things change.

Three Stoic Actions to Reduce Imaginary Suffering

1. Separate thought from fact
Ask yourself: Is this happening, or am I overthinking? Often, the fear is only a projection.

2. Return to the present task
When it is time to eat, eat. If it is time to sleep, sleep. Remind yourself that presence is your anchor. Worry cannot survive in a focused mind.

3. Reflect on your track record
How many things have you feared that never came true? How many hardships did you survive that you thought would break you? Let your past resilience speak louder than your imagined fear.

Lately..

Recently, things in my household changed, quite suddenly, and of course the super moon was blamed, and we were told to "surrender" in the only way Totnesians can advise.

We obviously didn't surrender, as the conflict lasted a good 7 days. However as I pared back my experiences of this storm and tried to find the roots of the mess, I found there were several roots entwined, and it was all rather complicated.
Now, does this sound familiar to you?

I cant say I'm hugely comfortable with confrontation, but this was a moment that forced me to make some decisions and even though I was convinced I was right, given certain information, it turns out- I wasn't, I did not have the full picture. It was a strange feeling.

Don't worry this isn't a convoluted confession. I'm just pointing out how when drama creeps insidiously into a situation, it clouds reality and perception unless you are a RADA graduate or a Philosophical Stoic follower, you might not spot this.
The only times I felt like myself in that 7 days, was in Yoga. This is a realm where it isn't even a case of trusting myself, it was just a stream of well tested goodness showering me with positivity and strength.
Oddly (perhaps?) the elements I have been preparing for my lessons since the beginning of September have had a kind of parallel existence since then, and I have been tested, I think, to see if I really can walk my talk...

So has the leaf left the tree yet? There was a moment when I realised that I had been had by "drama", and just like the elemental Fae, had had a bit of a laugh messing up my life for a while. Honestly, having 2 of my bank cards pilfered was the least of my troubles.( that just served to reinforce using cash.)
And, inevitably the crash came as the veil tumbled down and leaves certainly were no longer attached to the branch, and life began a new phase; the clean-up.

Incidentally, this all started with washing up.
Honestly, Washing dishes, is not just washing dishes, it is highly political, and leads to much change and confrontation.
My dad taught me this recently:
"Judge people by what they do not by what they say."
Which I have written on our kitchen whiteboard, for myself more than others. This is a reminder to follow through, walk the talk, and yes, in a way "surrender", let go of what is not necessary, useful or in accordance with your experience.

So now it's a case of returning to normality; read the novel, go for a walk out in the trees, a touch of cooking perhaps, regular ablutions, feeding, and taking care of the body so it has nothing to complain about.

Sometimes thinking is perhaps just over thinking. Simplicity can be very relaxing. I recommend it.

A couple of things I want to share with you:

Yoga Nidra training with Jane Macarness
This training Jane delivers, I can say was one of the most profound practices I have ever experienced. Thats why I come back to it over and over again.
She is a fine teacher with so much experience teaching yoga she puts us all in the shade. An Elder fo the YTT community and beyond, she has much to offer. I'm flagging this up to shamelessly promote her course. If you're thinking about it, get in touch! Start when you want.
